The Joy of Curves

Every now and then we are presented with a challenge to produce something technically demanding but also practical and beautiful too. Our client wanted a show-stopping staircase that would not only look incredible but would enhance the sense of space in their comparatively small, curved entrance hall.

Bonsai drew up this rather special design that is not only curved on three axis but is also 'floating' so as to maximise the feeling of spaciousness in the hall. Once we had our client's approval we created the staircase and handrail from the highest grade of European oak available. We also went to local experts Turx to fabricate the ornate metal ballustrade which marries very well with the finished piece.

The curves did not end with the staircase as the entrance hall floor also descended into a sloping curve too which we floored in European oak to match the rest of the property. All the timber was treated with 'Treatex' natural hard-wax oil for excellent durability and ease of maintenance.

Elsewhere in the property we installed a 'Sensu' wideplank oak floor. We are immensely proud of the result and to have this work in our portfolio.
