A great way for Bonsai to start 2014 and a real chance to show off our rounded skills in a commercial environment. Muse's owner Steve approached us toward the end of 2013 to help him transform the busy business into something with a distinctly different feel and we were only too happy to oblige. After a couple of months' design, consultation and selection of samples and materials we agreed on a full design scheme and scheduled the work to commence on 27th December for completed by 13th January.
Lights, rattan chairs, leather bar stools, reclaimed timber picture frames in the main area and antique armoirs for display in the deli were sourced by Bonsai's Home division. Our favourite items are the beautiful copper-lined bar lights made from reclaimed pine though we also love the large and striking turn-of-the-century French antique mirror from our 'antiques & uniques' selection.
The stunning new bar, tables, bench & banquette seats were made by our Bespoke division who created everything in our workshop in order that it could be quickly installed on site. The bespoke team also carried out structural work and painted the whole place to bottom using our natural, odorless 'Earthborn' paint - ideal for a environment where food & beverages are served all day.
Finally the French oak floor was from our Elements division; subtly white washed in order to compliment the rest of the timber in the scheme which was primarily Douglas fir and reclaimed, distressed oak. All the timber was sealed with subtle, commercial-strength matt finishes to ensure maximum durability.

A 'before' shot of Muse showing the counter in its old position and looking all the way through to the newly-partitioned deli. The new bar moved seveal metres to the left.
The beautiful antique French mirror compliments the scheme beautifully
The restaurant is almost unrecognisable and the new glazed partition wall looks through to the deli. The stunning copper-lined lights are a favourite item of ours and the Douglas fir and reclaimed oak look great throughout the whole area.
The LED lighting shows off the reclaimed oak on the bar front to great effect with the bar stools removed.
