We were approached to produce a full 'timber solution' for our clients in order to tie together each area of their newly built property. The place was to have a fairly contemporary edge but use sufficient timber to retain a natural feel which would offset things like the modern kitchen. To accentuate the natural feel of the oak (which was used throughout) we textured the floor by hand in situ which has the effect of raising the grain in certain areas and making all of the timber very tactile.
This was done throughout the kitchen, diner and living area and continued down the staircase and accompanying newel posts. We utilised one of our favoured 'floating' staircase designs to maximise the sense of space in the entrance hall with lots of clean glass and no traditional balustrade. Our unusual 'Roxipan' oversized concrete tiles are laid in the entrance hall and they contrast beautifully against the staircase timber. In the spare bedroom they selected one of our favourite products - some floor tiles made from reclaimed Indian teak which look incredible when viewed up close!
All of the timber was hand-finished on site according to a
bespoke swatch that was carefully selected by the clients and last
but not least they chose a some living room furniture and a master
bed from our increasingly popular 'SITS' range.
To summarise, the following were supplied by Bonsai:
• 'Sensu' Wideplank engineered oak flooring
• A bespoke 'floating' staircase in textured, European oak and glass
• 'Roxipan' oversized concrete floor tiles in the entrance hall
• Reclaimed Indian teak floor tiles
• A sofa, footrest and bed from our SITS range
